- Quit my job. I've sacrificed too much to a job which has not given me enough in return.
- Get healthier, both mentally and physically. This is probably the biggest sacrifice I have made to my job, and I'm not prepared for it to continue much longer.
- Make it overseas. Current plan is to leave in April for as long as my $20,000 (fingers crossed!) will last.
Baldy's over his stomach thing.
We're getting on the train now!
Here goes nothing. Hope I don't injure myself...
Seeyas!
HAPPY 2010!!!!!!!!!
Happy New Year's Eve... Unless like many of my Vox friends you're in Antipodean lands in which case I hope 2010 is already treating you well.
Like every other year I am staying in this year and have curated a little online party for any other losers who are doing so or are being forced to work. If you've got Twitter and/or Spotify you can join in here.
Here's hoping you all have a wonderful start to the new year and the new decade.
It wouldn't feel right not to sign out with a song... From one of the bands of the year, the best act I saw live all year and from one of my top five albums of the year, if this track doesn't stir up equal amounts of despair and hope in you then you're clearly not in a new year frame of mind.

2009 hasn't been the best of years really, has it? Twelve months of celebrity deaths, raging against a hypothetical machine, the recession meaning that millions have lost jobs and thousands of fatties can no longer get their Pick'n'Mix at Woolworths. I won't be sad to see this year go. Goodbye losers.
5. At number five on my list of losers is anyone who's milked the death of Michael Jackson, everyone from his murdering doctor, to his money grabbing dad, to anyone who put on some kind of Jacko themed event, gig or TV show. "It's what Michael would have wanted" they wail. I'm pretty sure he'd actually have wanted to be alive and doing his gigs. I still want to be going to see him next week... or at least to get my refund!
4. Only slightly ahead of that is the crazy American family who pretended their son had taken off in a giant helium balloon and sparked a media furore. Get off your asses, get real jobs, deal with not being famous and watch less TV y'all.
3. Jan Moir. Tasteless and poor quality journalism will win you no friends.
2. Anyone who has senselessly killed anyone else. There's far too much of this going on. My old granny used to say "the world has gone to hell in a handcart". You can't deny this even if you're not too sure what a handcart is. The dubious honour of being the latest addition to this list is the man who shot his own four year old daughter dead just after Christmas. Season on goodwill my arse.
1. Christmas is a time for celebration and in Northern Ireland we're celebrating the fact that DUP member Irish Robinson has resigned. There's nothing funny or lighthearted about her citing mental health reasons for doing so. It's a serious affliction but given that this is the woman who knew of psychologists who could "cure" homosexuals you would think that maybe she could have done more to help herself. Maybe she could form some new renegade part with Nick Griffin and Silvio Berlisconi... Who knows. One thing we do know however is that it's one of the biggest progressive steps this nation has taken since we sort of half agreed to stop blowing each other up.
Less of this in 2010 everyone. Ok!
I remember you liked this song and played it on youtube a lot when you were here!
If someone else was living my life... I would be laughing so hard at them right now...
Like SOOOOO hard.
Now that I've hooked up. All the girls I didn't even think were interested, like I had a better chance of having sex with a penguin than these girls, are now coming out and saying to me stuff like "Oh well you knew I liked you right, but you kept talking to whatsherface so I thought you liked her."
Funnily enough, the person saying the previous statement and the person called "whatsherface" never being the same person.
But I am still managing to maintain a distance from the drama that this island thrives on, despite my paramour already being in the thick of it despite being only being on the island a week.
So island life is good :)
I probably won't be putting any new entries in until after my birthday, due to the fact that we have stocktake in a few days and I'm coordinating the damn thing (damn you North Americans and your weird fiscal year period!)
Hope all is good!
Ah I'm bloody knackered after all that Christmas stuff and I'm straight back into work so here's a very lazy look at my top five YouTube moments of the year.
The countdown to the end of the year starts here. Are we ready for some lists dear blog readers?
First, as a man of the internet here are my top five discoveries of 2009.
Five: Guaranteed to get you through any dull day in work, laugh at other people's misfortunes on TFLN.
Four: A cheeky plug for my own site but all this deadonmusic stuff has been a labour of love this year.
Three: Inspiration, distraction and envy all readily available on ffffound.
Two: OK so I was a little bit late to the party but I'm sure by now most of you have found me on Twitter.
One: Last but not least. I was there grabbing an account when it was still free to do so and now I've got access to millions of great tunes, taking them on the move and occasionally resorting to the phone app when all else fails during a DJ set. Oh yeah, at number one it's Spotify.
